Quantitative Researcher, Statistician and Computational Mathematician
I work across aviation forecasting, weather modelling, health analytics, financial behaviour and digitalisation. This site directs to all my research publications, events, and other public writing.
P‑values aren’t the problem
A forensic look at how misunderstood statistics distort health research.
P‑values aren’t the problem - 0.05 and our interpretation are. The 7 deadly sins that distort health research
A forensic look at how misunderstood statistics—skew, kurtosis, and arbitrary p‑value thresholds—have led to misdiagnosis, mistreatment, and even wrongful criminal convictions. It shows readers how to detect these errors, avoid them, and apply statistics with confidence and accuracy in real‑world research.
Creating the best working environments in Modern Corporate Workplaces
A case study showing how intentional design, inclusive community‑building and hybrid‑friendly practices to create a workplace where digital professionals can collaborate, learn and build meaningful local networks.
Mathematics (BSc) Biomedical Engineering (MSc) and Aerial Robotics and Forecasting (PhD, advanced stage) academic
Committee member of the Royal Statistical Society's Business and Industrial Section
Guest lecturer & data researcher. Specialising in Digitalisation, Technology, Statistics and Mathematical Modelling
Edward Watts is a quantitative researcher with academic foundations in mathematics, biomedical engineering and robotics. His work spans aviation forecasting, weather modelling, health analytics, financial behaviour and digitalisation. He serves on the Royal Statistical Society Business & Industrial Section committee and lectures on applied statistics and modelling.
He started as a Statistician in 2019 in a major organisation, later taking on roles such as Data Scientist and Data Analyst team lead. During this time he specialised in international analytics, behavioural and economic modelling and the development of data systems.
Earlier in his career he worked in student services, suicide-support, and hospice care; shaping his interest in behaviouiral signals. Specifically the different mental states we exhibit, the things we do during those states and how this is reflected as society.
Now he explores his interestes throguh academic and independent research, all of which are published in a personal capacity
